St. Augustine Oktoberfest 2023: Sunday, September 24
Oktoberfest is all about Gemütlichkeit. What is Gemütlichkeit? It encompasses fun, celebration and festivities for friends, family and community. We invite the Bay View neighborhood and all of Milwaukee to enjoy homemade German specialties, great beer and music. Masskrugstemmen Bier Steinholding Contest – 4:00PM
Hosted by Adler from FM 102.1 and Featuring Milwaukee’s Milverine and Alderwoman Marina Dimitrijevic
Are you mightier than the Milverine? Challenge the bronzed Bavarian wonder to a traditional Bavarian strength contest in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein (Masskrug in German) out in front of their bodies with a straight arm and parallel to the ground.
Hold it as long as you can and the last person holding with good form is the winner. The number of contestants will be limited, so be sure to add your name to the sign-up sheet on the day of the event! A commemorative stein — and bragging rights — will be awarded to the last person holding in good form. There will be separate competitions for the Männer und Frauen.
SPACE IS LIMITED so purchase your tickets in advance. Entry is $10 per person (the beer is yours to drink, the stein is ours).
Purchase Ticket for Men’s Competition
Purchase Ticket for Women’s Competition
If you think you can master the Milverine or Marina at this feat of strength, get practicing and read up on the official rules!
Cake Walk – 3:30PM
What’s a cake walk? It’s like musical chairs. When the music stops, you rush to stand on a number on the ground. The last four people standing win a delicious German Chocolate or Black Forest Cake. Be sure to add your name to the sign-up sheet on the day of the event!
